2009 is finally here. This year is a very special and scary year for me, as I will be getting married on the 20th September. I still remember when my fiance first proposed, and our first talks about getting married. He had wanted it to be 2010 as, at the time, this would have been the year he was to finish his PHD. As things worked out, he has not even started his PHD yet and since he is doing a part time PHD this means it will take him at least 4 years, bringing the end to 2013. There was no way I was waiting that long.

After much convincing, my fiance agreed to marry in 2009 (my argument being that if we marry sooner then we have longer to make up a deposit for a house for when he finishes his PHD) and so we are getting married in a beautiful Jacobean manor.

2009 is also the year where I want to get serious about updating my webcomic. I have now roped in my wonderful cousin to help me with the website layout and design so that I only have to focus on getting the pages done. This means one less thing to worry about, although my cousin is currently at university so whenever she has essays or exams she will have to focus on those. I think once I get the basics figured out (with her help) I will be able to manage this place on my own.

I want Nightlife to have a bi-weekly update by the time Im married, though I realise that the next few months will be most chaotic for me as I have to actually get on with implementing all the wedding plans Ive been making the last 3-4 months… all of which now seem redundant as several problems have come up, such as the florist we were going to use being in hospital and may not have recovered in time for the order.

Oh well. 2009 will have a lot of ups and downs, but Im sure it’ll be a fund ride.

the Plan was to get it up by Thursday but I managed it Yesterday evening. I will still be updating another page on Sunday since its only a cover page.

I know I said that Nightlife would start 8th, and I know the 8th is now been and gone with no comic. The reason is that I had a last minute change of heart about the first page. I did not like it at all. Instead of just putting it up and living with it I decided to do a better first page. I want this comic to be awesome both in story and in art. I am happy to accept that how I do comics now will probably improve over time and Im happy to look back one day in the future and see how bad these pages were, but the fact that I knew I could do better NOW left me irritated.

So I will try and have the first page up by Thursday, and just to make sure Im still on track, I will update on Saturday as well. I may at some point make Thursday and Saturday my update schedule but for now it’ll be saturdays with the occational extra during the week, at least till I have enought backlog of pages.

I have finally gotten around to ordering a new desk and a portable drawing board. This means I will now have better tools at my disposal when I am workign on my art.

currently I draw on the very end of my computer desk, with everything pushed as far back as possible to give me some room, or I use of the plywood boards I have for clay modeling and rest it against the desk at a tilted angle. Neither of these are ideal.

I’m looking forward to these new items coming and, although I realise they will not suddenly make me a master of drawing, Im hoping I will feel less frustrated once I start using them, meaning I will focus on my art much more.

I had to take wordpress down and reinstall as I was having a few difficulties with it. Its fine now. Im going to be using other peoples themes till I have time to make my own.

Night life will be starting as of the 8th of November and will update every Saturday afterwards. I have a couple of backdated pages and Im able to get them done within 2 hours now so hopefully I’ll keep on track.
